Janet Braun-Reinitz

“Refugees - #3 Lesbos”, Troubled Waters Series

Janet Braun-Reinitz is a muralist, studio painter and activist committed to social justice. Since 1984 she has collaborated in painting more than 60 community murals - in many venues in NYC as well as elsewhere in the US and internationally- situating her art as a call for active resistance against all injustice.

Her studio work has been widely exhibited and she has twice been the recipient of “Anonymous”, a grant for the creation of political art as well as other awards. In addition, Braun-Reinitz is the co-author of two books, On The Wall: Four Decades of Community Murals in NYC (2009) and The Mural Book: A Practical Guide for Educators (2001).
